Honda Reports a Rise in Sales for the Pilot, HR-V, & Civic in January

Honda Reports a Rise in Sales for the Pilot, HR-V, & Civic in January

GRANDVILLE, Mich.,––American Honda Co., Inc. has recently reported their sales numbers for January 2018, indicating a decrease in overall numbers from last year, but a rise in sales for the Pilot, HR-V, and Civic models. Despite the shift in the market, away from cars and towards SUVs, the Honda cars are only slightly down year-over-year, showing promise for the brand's future in the segment.

The Honda Pilot took a big climb in sales numbers, from 7,180 units last year to 11,619 units this year, which is an unbelievable 61.8% increase! This can be in part, thanks to the market's shift towards SUVs and crossovers, but mostly due to the improved supplies. January 2018 marks the Pilot's 5th straight month of sales increases and a record year for the trucks category.

The Honda HR-V shows its strength in the subcompact or small crossover segment by jumping 10% in January, marking a new record for the month. The Civic also saw a rise of 2.8%, from 23,095 units to 23,749 units year-over-year, which is just short of an all-time record. This is of course bittersweet, because of the lagging sales in the car category overall. However, the all-new Accord is still gaining traction and will hopefully see an increase in the next few months thanks to it's new title: 2018 North American Car of the Year.

Honda has posted an all-time annual sales record for the third year in a row, which included sales of 1,486,827 units from the Honda division  - that's 10,245 units more than last year. The trucks category, including all SUV models and the Ridgeline pickup, posted sales of 734,269 for the year. The success of the trucks category with help from the Pilot, CR-V, and HR-V.

The Pilot, now produced in Alabama, jumped 5.4% year-over-year this December. The CR-V, also produced in the United States at three different plant locations, also jumped 5.8% year-over-year with 377,895 units sold. The CR-V is undoubtedly Honda's best-selling model, and a marvel in the compact SUV category. The 2018 CR-V was named Motor Trend's SUV this year. Aside from the Odyssey, which fell from last year's big launch, every light truck model saw an increase in sales this year. The Ridgeline in particular gained a stunning 46.8%, with a total of 34,749 units sold.

While cars saw a year-over-year decline throughout the U.S. market, across almost all manufacturers, Honda continued to post good numbers in 2017. The release of the all-new 2018 Accord has been going well, and should see a jump when the 2.0T engine model is brought to dealerships, but the Civic is the real star of the show. The Honda Civic, posted a best-ever annual record of 377,286 units - that's 10,359 more units sold than last year, equaling a 2.8% increase year-over-year. Aside from the brand new Clarity, the Civic was the only sedan to post an increase for 2017.

Honda Continues to Win with Five 2018 Consumer Guide Automotive Best Buy Awards

December 07, 2017 0
GRANDVILLE, Mich., –– It seems like the theme song of Honda should be "We Are the Champions" by Queen, because Honda continues to win big not just during award season, but throughout the year! This time, Honda is standing proud with five 2018 Consumer Guide Automotive Best Buy awards. The winning vehicles include the Accord, Ridgeline, Pilot, Civic, and HR-V. Let's take a look at how they did it.

Every year Consumer Guide, one of the most trusted names in the automotive industry, awards vehicles in each one of the 20 categories, or segments, with two major focuses in mind: overall value and price. Just by understanding the goal of the awards, we can see why Honda has come out on top in five categories.

What's changed this year? Many luxury or higher-end tech and connectivity features have been made available in non-luxury vehicles. Suites of safety features are more often than not being offered standard with new vehicles - in fact, by government mandate all 2018 model year vehicles must be equipped with a rearview camera. And most notably, the market has shifted towards small crossovers and SUVs and away from passenger vehicles, even though Honda's sales reports might say otherwise.

Check out the winning Honda vehicles for Consumer Guide's 2018 Automotive Best Buy Awards:

Cars Take Surprising Leap in Honda's October Sales

GRANDVILLE, Mich.,––If you've been paying attention to any auto trends, you might know that crossovers and SUVs have been the lead in vehicle sales this year. Honda has recently began to buck the trend and cars are now gaining some popularity back, but that doesn't mean the Civic and Accord ever lost their luster. The debut of the redesigned 2018 Honda Accord and the ever strong Civic and Type R variation helped cars take a surprising leap in Honda's October sales.

The release of the 2018 Honda Accord mid-month helped sales climb 4.7% reaching a total of 26,740 units sold. We expect the numbers to climb even more once the 2.0 Turbo and Hybrid 2018 Accord models are brought to the market. The Civic and the Pilot, however, seem to be the real stars of October. The Civic saw an incredible 15% jump in sales, helping it reach a brand new October record, with a total of 30,319 units sold. The Pilot, notably an SUV, gained 18.5% - the second straight month of impressive increases in units sold. Check out the chart below for the official breakdown of Honda's October sales:

Honda April Sales Report

May 04, 2017 3

Honda April Sales Report

GRANDVILLE, Mich.,––The market is changing, and we're glad to say Honda has been keeping graceful stride with the change! SUVs have become the high stakes player in the sales game, while car sales have respectively taken a dive. This change has lead to reports of very steep decreases in car sales and overall sales with other manufacturers. In instance, Ford reported a decrease of 21/2% in car sales.

Despite the slight overall decrease, American Honda's truck division increased in sales by 9.2% year-over-year, leading to a 1.2% increase year-over-year. Let's take a look at the Honda April Sales Report in more detail!

Honda thankfully still saw strong demand for their cars in April, unlike many other manufacturers, despite the drop in year-over-year numbers. The one Honda car that posted an increase? The Honda Fit, which increased by 0.8% with a total of 4,871 units.

Honda also saw strong demand for their trucks. The CR-V posted a year-over-year increase of 26.6% and a month-to-month increase of 13%, which might be thanks to the redesigned 2017 model. The Ridgeline also helped the segment increase overall by posting sales of 3,186 units. Not to mention the HR-V, which posted a month-to-month increase of 22.4%, the Odyssey and Pilot which helped the truck division reach overall sales of 61,114 units!
