This time, Honda is standing proud with five 2018 Consumer Guide Automotive Best Buy awards. The winning vehicles include the Accord, Ridgeline, Pilot, Civic, and HR-V. Let's take a look at how they did it.

Every year Consumer Guide, one of the most trusted names in the automotive industry, awards vehicles in each one of the 20 categories, or segments, with two major focuses in mind: overall value and price. Just by understanding the goal of the awards, we can see why Honda has come out on top in five categories.

What's changed this year? Many luxury or higher-end tech and connectivity features have been made available in non-luxury vehicles. Suites of safety features are more often than not being offered standard with new vehicles - in fact, by government mandate all 2018 model year vehicles must be equipped with a rearview camera. And most notably, the market has shifted towards small crossovers and SUVs and away from passenger vehicles, even though Honda's sales reports might say otherwise.

The 2017 Honda Civic, along with the 2017 Honda Fit, was named a Kelley Blue Book Coolest Car Under $18,000. In fact, Honda was the only car brand with multiple vehicles to make the list. The Civic and Fit stand alongside the Toyota Corolla iM, Jeep Renegade, and the Subaru Impreza. Each car was chosen for fun, versatility, and stylishness. The Honda Fit and Honda Civic seemed to score high in spaciousness and versatility, both providing reviewers with roominess in the rear-seat/cargo area. Plus, they both offer stylishness and higher-end finishes in the interior, which is something not expected in a lower-price category.



The 2017 Honda Civic Sedan Touring, along with the 2017 Honda Accord Sport Sensing, was named Best Car Under $30,000 in the AAA Green Car Guide. This particular award was taken thanks to high marks in the safety, convenience features, ride quality, and fuel efficiency categories. AAA ranked 10 cars on the market based on ride quality, EPA emissions, fuel economy, and crashworthiness. According to Chevrolet, they had a pretty good November! Led by the Bolt EV, which won five awards of its own, Chevy scored a whopping 18 awards in automotive and consumer media rankings in just one week- a record for the brand.

The all-electric Bolt EV, which offers an estimated 238 miles of range on a full charge, earned a spot on the Car and Driver 10Best Cars list and was named Best New Car to Buy by Green Car Reports, Green Car of the Year by Green Car Journal and Best EV by Car Connection.

“The Bolt EV is the newest example of how Chevrolet is driving the industry with leading technology matched with great design and the connectivity that makes customers’ lives easier,” stated Alan Batey, president of GM North America and brand chief, Global Chevrolet. “We’re innovating like never before with more choices for every need and these awards affirm the depth, breadth and value offered by Chevrolet’s lineup.”

Also making names for themselves on Car and Driver’s 10Best Cars List are the Camaro 1LE and Corvette Grand Sport. This is the second consecutive year the Camaro has made the list and the third time in four years the Corvette has been on the list.

Additionally (we’re running out of breath), six Chevrolet vehicles were awarded by Consumer Guide Automotive as “Best Buys”, while the Impala and Tahoe were each named Kelley Blue Book “Best Buys” for the second consecutive year.
