Cars from NAIAS That You Can Find at RiverTown Honda

January 26, 2018 0
GRANDVILLE, Mich.,––NAIAS, otherwise known as the North American International Auto Show is held in Detroit every year in January. Major automotive OEM brands, special parts or engine providers, along with luxury and supercar manufacturers all have a spot on the Cobo Center arena floor to showcase their latest and greatest products. Honda has been there for the past few years, taking home titles like North American Car of the Year for the Honda Civic in 2016, North American Truck of the Year for the Honda Ridgeline in 2017, and this year, North American Car of the Year for the 2018 Accord. If you didn't get a chance to see what was on the floor this year, but still want to see what's new with Honda, here are the cars from NAIAS that you can find at RiverTown Honda.

This all-new redesigned mid-size Accord sedan has been dominating the market for 41 years, and now, more than ever, automotive news. The 2018 model has been a hit among the industry since it's announcement and release, and even more recently due to its big win at NAIAS. Even better, you can find a wide selection of 2018 Accords at RiverTown Honda. We've had the 1.5T models since their release, but now have 2.0T models as well! Either way, you'll discover a luxurious interior packed with modern amenities for a surprisingly affordable price.

The 2018 Honda Odyssey, a family favorite, was also on the floor. This model was released early in 2017 and became a popular subject, like the Accord, for it's affordability and seemingly endless offering of family-focused convenience, tech, and safety features. We've had the 2018 Odyssey on our lot for a while now, but we highly recommend stopping by to check it out when you're in Grandville! You can experience the Magic Slide 2nd-row seats and test out the CabinWatch/CabinTalk features out for yourself.

A newer face on the floor that had a lot of attention was the 2018 Honda Clarity. This mid-size car is available in a full electric model, a plug-in hybrid, and a hydrogen fuel cell model, and offers a high-tech, smooth style on the outside, and the same technology you would find in a new Accord on the inside. We have a great selection of plug-in hybrid models at RiverTown Honda that you can take for a spin.

Next up, last year's big title winner, and this year's Motor Trend SUV of the Year, the 2018 Honda CR-V. Continuing the new redesigned exterior style, standard Honda Sensing safety features, and class-leading passenger space in the compact SUV category. We have last year's model, the 2017 CR-V available for as low as $24,995, but have a wide selection of 2018 models, too.

Last, but not least - the 2018 Honda Civic! The photo below is of the Civic Type R, a performance based Civic that's not as easy to come by, but still awesome. At NAIAS 2018, we got to check out Honda's "Civic Alley" where there were four Civics on display including the regular Civic sedan, Civic hatchback, Civic Si sedan, and Si coupe. There are so many options to meet every style and we have a large selection for you to choose from at RiverTown Honda.

When you're ready to come see the cars from NAIAS at RiverTown Honda, let us know. We'll prepare the car of your interest ahead of time so you can take it for a spin when you arrive! Our dealership is located just 12 minutes from downtown Grand Rapids, down the street from RiverTown Crossings Mall in Grandville. You can see more information on these models and more on the Honda Model Overview page on our website. Click on the brochure buttons to see a detailed, downloadable catalog for each vehicle or click the inventory link to see what we have available on our lot. It's our goal to provide you the best dealership experience of your life and can't wait to help you find your next new vehicle!

Meet the 2018 North American Car of the Year: the 2018 Honda Accord

January 16, 2018 0
Meet the 2018 North American Car of the Year: the 2018 Honda Accord

GRANDVILLE, Mich.,––Each year during the North American Auto Show in Detroit, the Car and Truck of the year are names. We're proud to announce that Honda has done it again! In the past two years, Honda vehicles have been awarded the coveted North American Car or Truck of the Year titles. In 2016, the newly redesigned Civic took the Car title. In 2017, the recently redesigned and resurrected Ridgeline took the Truck title. This year, one of the most talked about sedans to be introduced to the market in 2017, took the Car title. Meet the 2018 North American Car of the Year: the 2018 Honda Accord.

There has been much praise from industry giants like Car and Driver, who called the 2018 Accord "America's Best Sedan" and put it on the 10Best list for the 32nd time, to reviewers and analysts like Kelley Blue Book giving it the 2018 Best Buy Overall and 2018 Best Buy: Midsize Car titles. It's no surprise the Accord took the top prize of the year, even ahead of tough competition like the Kia Stinger (a performance based consumer sedan) and the Toyota Camry (another long time midsize giant). But, why? What makes the 2018 Accord so great?

Simply put, it's the absolute best bang for your buck.

Meet the 2018 North American Car of the Year: the 2018 Honda Accord

The 2018 Honda Accord offers a completely new look with LED headlights, a big air intake on the front fascia, a longer wheelbase and lower stance for an athletic and sporty attitude. And while what's under the hood is one of the most important factors, a new turbocharged VTEC engine in 1.5L or 2.0L with a 10-speed auto transmission, there are other factors that make this affordable midsize sedan seem like a luxury steal.

The Accord, previously known for its practicality and reliability, has a new attitude and a suite of seemingly endless features that will appeal to the pickiest of drivers. The advanced convenience, infotainment, and safety technology is at the core of it's offering. Honda Sensing, one of the most comprehensive suite of safety features in the non-luxury market comes standard with every model, which, since the 2018 Accord was unheard of.

The convenience of the Accord goes far beyond what you would imagine a Honda vehicle could offer with an electronic gear selector, plush leather trimmed seating in some models, 60/40 split rear seats, a full 7" driver dashboard display, and class-leading interior space with generous trunk space, too. Drivers will also enjoy keyless entry, a premium sound system, wireless smartphone charging, mobile hotspot capability, and Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

The MSRP for the 2018 Accord Sport CVT begins at a surprisingly affordable $25,780. Of course, that's a lot of money for many and a big investment, but for a midsize sedan with everything this one has to offer, it's quite practical and an excellent choice for the long run. Honda vehicles achieve some of the best resale value in the entire auto market, so you can be sure it'll serve you well now and in the future.

At RiverTown Honda, we want to congratulate the 2018 North American Car of the Year: the 2018 Honda Accord, not only for its brand new title, but it's accomplishment in being America's best-selling sedan for the last 41 years. We're proud to offer this top-tier midsize sedan at our dealership, along with all Honda's other award winning models. We understand the intimidation of buying or leasing a new or used car and are here to help you through the process and stand by your side with every step. It's our goal to provide you the best dealership experience of your life, regardless of what you're coming in for. Give us a call to schedule appointment to take a test drive of the new 2018 Accord and get the full RiverTown Honda experience at our location in Grandville, just 12 minutes from downtown Grand Rapids.

Honda Continues to Win with Five 2018 Consumer Guide Automotive Best Buy Awards

December 07, 2017 0
GRANDVILLE, Mich., –– It seems like the theme song of Honda should be "We Are the Champions" by Queen, because Honda continues to win big not just during award season, but throughout the year! This time, Honda is standing proud with five 2018 Consumer Guide Automotive Best Buy awards. The winning vehicles include the Accord, Ridgeline, Pilot, Civic, and HR-V. Let's take a look at how they did it.

Every year Consumer Guide, one of the most trusted names in the automotive industry, awards vehicles in each one of the 20 categories, or segments, with two major focuses in mind: overall value and price. Just by understanding the goal of the awards, we can see why Honda has come out on top in five categories.

What's changed this year? Many luxury or higher-end tech and connectivity features have been made available in non-luxury vehicles. Suites of safety features are more often than not being offered standard with new vehicles - in fact, by government mandate all 2018 model year vehicles must be equipped with a rearview camera. And most notably, the market has shifted towards small crossovers and SUVs and away from passenger vehicles, even though Honda's sales reports might say otherwise.

Check out the winning Honda vehicles for Consumer Guide's 2018 Automotive Best Buy Awards:

Compact Car: Honda Civic

Midsize Crossover: Honda Pilot

Honda Continues to Win with Five 2018 Consumer Guide Automotive Best Buy Awards

The 2018 Honda Pilot took a second seat to the 2018 Toyota Highlander, but continues to offer great value in the segment with new tech features for the 2018 model year.

Compact Pickup: Honda Ridgeline

Honda Continues to Win with Five 2018 Consumer Guide Automotive Best Buy Awards

Better is a Never Ending Quest

November 07, 2017 0
Better is a Never Ending Quest

GRANDVILLE, Mich.,––Honda's all-new 2018 Accord comes with a thought to bear in mind: "Better is a Never Ending Quest". This is the tagline of Honda's new campaign in promotion of the redesigned, best-selling, mid-size sedan, but is a nod towards the company's goals. The video ad you'll see below showcases "Trophy City" where the trophy figures push the boundaries, climb higher, and refuse to let "best" be the end of their success. You'll be able to catch this and other 2018 Accord ads on television during the Golden Globes, late-night comedy show NBC programming, and various NHL, NFL, and NBA games!

The Honda Accord has been a best-selling mid-size sedan since it entered into the market in the United States in 1976. It has received countless awards within its class, but that doesn't mean that Honda has to settle. Honda has pushed the boundaries. The redesign for the 2018 model year is the most monumental change the Accord has experienced in its 41 year history. The all-new model will come with the most powerful base engine yet and, when equipped with the 2.0T, will be able to achieve the highest torque output the Accord has ever seen.

Consumers may have previously thought of Honda to be a safe, reliable, more practical car brand, but the "Tower of Success" ad goes to show the brand isn't stopping there & better is a never ending quest. We're proud to be a small part of a car brand that's different from the rest; one that pushes boundaries with the consumer at the top of their mind. It's our goal at RiverTown Honda to provide you the best dealership experience of your life. The 2018 Honda Accord is well worth the hype. We'd be happy to give you a test drive and show you why the RiverTown experience is unlike any other! All you have to do is stop by our location in Grandville, around the corner from the RiverTown Crossings Mall, just 12 minutes from downtown Grand Rapids.

Cars Take Surprising Leap in Honda's October Sales

November 02, 2017 0
Cars Take Surprising Leap in Honda's October Sales

GRANDVILLE, Mich.,––If you've been paying attention to any auto trends, you might know that crossovers and SUVs have been the lead in vehicle sales this year. Honda has recently began to buck the trend and cars are now gaining some popularity back, but that doesn't mean the Civic and Accord ever lost their luster. The debut of the redesigned 2018 Honda Accord and the ever strong Civic and Type R variation helped cars take a surprising leap in Honda's October sales.

The release of the 2018 Honda Accord mid-month helped sales climb 4.7% reaching a total of 26,740 units sold. We expect the numbers to climb even more once the 2.0 Turbo and Hybrid 2018 Accord models are brought to the market. The Civic and the Pilot, however, seem to be the real stars of October. The Civic saw an incredible 15% jump in sales, helping it reach a brand new October record, with a total of 30,319 units sold. The Pilot, notably an SUV, gained 18.5% - the second straight month of impressive increases in units sold. Check out the chart below for the official breakdown of Honda's October sales:

The 2018 Honda Accord Makes its Worldwide Debut

July 14, 2017 0

The 2018 Honda Accord Makes its Worldwide Debut

GRANDVILLE, Mich.,––The Honda Accord has been America's best-selling midsize sedan since it became available in the U.S. In fact, 13 million units have been sold since it's entrance in the American market, which means one Accord has been sold every 2 minutes for the last 41 years! The 10th generation Accord will arrive on lots this coming fall with a brand new design, interior, and body structure.

The 2018 Honda Accord made its world-wide debut this morning in Detroit and live on YouTube. Honda's Senior Vice President, Jeff Conrad, took viewers through the Accord's long-standing success, his own experience with the Accord, and finally, the 2018 remake. Coming all the way from being the first Honda car made in America to being America's best-selling non-luxury sedan, this generation Accord is the most sporty, refined, and responsive model yet.

This remake has been one of the most dramatic yet and was built to evoke new emotion and premium appeal like never before. The exterior was uniquely designed in real light in LA, as opposed to a studio, while the interior was designed to model a concert hall that would provide elation upon entering. The bones and the heart of the new 2018 Honda Accord are what will carry the driver's excitement from the cosmetic appeal to the performance.

The 2018 Honda offers the following features:

-Panoramic view from the drivers seat
-Wider stance
-Longer wheel base
-Lower center of gravity
-3 new engine options, including 2 turbos
-10-speed automatic
-Adaptive damper system
-Aluminum intensive chassis
-6-speed manual

This will be the first time a turbo is offered with the Accord, and a Honda sedan at that. The two new turbo engines include a 1.5L direct-injected that can get up to 192 hp, and a 2L iVTEC valve train that shares the basic design of the powerplant in the Civic Type R. The 2L turbo engine will get up to 252 hp and 273 lbf-ft of torque, which is the highest output of any production Accord to date. The lighter, more rigid body, made with 29% ultra-high-strength steel only adds to this car's functionality and safety appeal.

The only thing you might miss about the old Accord, is the lack of a coupe variant with the 2018 model. Although there won't be a coupe, the sport trim and 6 speed manual will provide the same feel coupe buyers look for.

We're extremely excited to have the 2018 Honda Accord, which just debuted worldwide, join our Grandville area lot this coming fall. While there aren't EPA ratings or pricing just yet, we'll keep you as updated as possible, as we know these are important factors to our Honda customers! Stay tuned to our blog and social media accounts for more information on the new 2018 Honda Accord, and other new models from Honda.

Honda's models are rapidly changing and evolving with the changes in the car buying market, and we're happy to be a small part. If you would like to explore Honda's newest vehicles including the 2018 Honda Odyssey and 2017 Honda CR-V, stop by our dealership. You'll find we offer a different experience from other dealerships in that we're family friendly, caring, and not pushy when it comes to sales. Whatever your auto needs, we'd be genuinely happy to help!

Economize Accordingly: The 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid Touring

November 17, 2016 0

The 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid Touring.
The Honda Accord is what the late David E. Davis, Junior, the man who more than any other, made me want to write about cars, would have called "A G--damn paragon of virtue".  Few cars can equal it in terms of value, fuel economy and overall excellence.

But what if the EPA-estimated 27 miles per gallon in the city and 37 miles per gallon in the highway provided by the four-cylinder Honda Accord is just not enough?

Rear 3/4 view of 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid Touring
2017 Honda Accord Hybrid Touring.
Well, if that, then this.  This being the 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid Touring.  A fully-loaded (leather, premium audio system with subwoofer and Apple CarPlay, Honda LaneWatch, dual-zone climate control, heated front and rear seats, power moonroof, rain-sensing wipers and more) that comes at a fixed price ($35,955---$36,790 when you figure in the $835 destination an handling fee) and delivers an EPA-estimated 49 miles per gallon city/47 highway.

That, planet-lovers, is only five miles per gallon less in the city and three fewer on the highway than a Toyota Prius (not counting the hypermiling Prius Two Eco the Phoenix Bureau tested this past summer).

Interior view of 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid

With the Accord, you get more car, more features, more room, more comfort and more power.  You also get what some would argue (especially in light of last year's re-design of the Prius) to be a more attractive car.

We have wondered before why the Honda Accord Hybrid hasn't crushed the Prius in sales.  It strikes us as the car that has everything...and that extracts the least amount of a trade-off in search of lower fuel consumption and emissions.
