What's So Special About Honda Sensing?
GRANDVILLE, Mich. -- Honda Sensing is the most comprehensive safety and driver-assistive technology suite in its class and comes standard on all Honda vehicles. But what exactly is so special about Honda Sensing?

RiverTown Honda is here to dish all of the awesome details about what makes Honda Sensing the best choice in automotive safety!

What's So Special About Honda Sensing?

LANE-KEEPING ASSIST SYSTEM (LKAS)

The Honda Sensing Lane-Keeping Assist System adjusts your steering to help keep you centered in a detected lane. This feature is supplemented by the Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Road Departure Mitigation System (RDMS). LDW will alert you with flashes and sounds if it senses that you're veering out of the lane, while RDMS will adjust your steering and braking if cross a lane without signaling.

What's So Special About Honda Sensing?

ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL (ACC)

Remember having to set and adjust cruise control yourself? Honda Sensing makes this a thing of the past with its Adaptive Cruise Control feature, which maintains a set following interval behind detected vehicles, adjusting to the ever-changing flow of traffic.

What's So Special About Honda Sensing?

COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM (CMBS)

If you don't have time to react, Honda Sensing's Collision Mitigation Braking System will do it for you by applying brake pressure when an unavoidable collision is determined, effectively lessening impact with a vehicle or object in front of you. This feature is supplemented by the Forward Collision Warning (FCW), which utilizes audio and visual alerts to warn you if you're at risk for collision.

Honda Sensing comes standard on all Honda cars, trucks, SUVs, and crossovers to make your driving experience that much safer for you and your family. Now that you've read up about it, see it in action for yourself by scheduling a test drive with us today!

RiverTown Honda Is Becoming Serra Honda Grandville

GRANDVILLE, Mich. -- We are in the process of changing the name of our dealership from RiverTown Honda to Serra Honda Grandville! Though rest-assured, that is the only thing that's changing. You're still closer than you think to the best dealership experience of your life!

RiverTown Honda Is Becoming Serra Honda Grandville

Our dealership name is getting an update to align with our family of dealerships under Serra Automotive, which is headquartered in Grand Blanc, MI. Serra's Michigan roots run deep, being established in 1973 with a single Chevrolet dealership in Grand Blanc. They're also a family business, with the company being privately owned by Joe Serra, who purchased the company from his father in 2000.

RiverTown Honda has been apart of the Serra network since our inception, and we always have been and always will be the same dealership you know and love. We pride ourselves on providing not only a stellar dealership experience but also a warm and friendly atmosphere that's evident of our commitment to the Grandville and Grand Rapids communities, as well as the Western Michigan area at large.

On top of forging lasting relationships with local businesses, we have given back in many ways including benefits for Betty Ford Breast Cancer Services and the Grand Rapids Dream Center, as well as hosting the Fifth Third River Bank Run. Even as our name changes, you can still expect the same community involvement and engagement you've seen from us over the years.

Our operating philosophy then and now remains the same: Take care of the customer and your employees, and the rest will take care of itself.

Follow us on Facebook for updates, and thank you so much for your patience and understanding during this transition. We look forward to our continued delivery of the best dealership experience in Michigan and appreciate our Western Michigan community family!

Great Garage Organization Hacks

April 04, 2018 0
Great Garage Organization Hacks

GRANDVILLE, Mich.,––Ahh, your garage, the home for your car, or your storage unit. Whatever you call it, if you have it, it's a space that you're probably thinking about when the spring season rolls around. There might be bicycles, garden tools, sidewalk chalk, and other sorts equipment you'll need for the warm weather somewhere in your garage. For many of us though, there's more than just that. For many of us, there's lots of junk crammed into the corners, overcrowding shelves, and taking up valuable floor space, because not everything can stay outside during the winter.

This is why we've all got garage on the mind whenever someone mentions "spring cleaning". Depending on the state of your space, doing some organization or cleaning in the garage could sound easy, or it could sound completely dreadful. Either way, we've got some great garage organization hacks that'll help you clear it out AND keep it clear throughout the rest of the year!

Great Garage Organization Hacks
Sports fanatics in the family? This hack is great for storing basketballs, soccer balls, footballs, bouncy balls, and more. All you need is a corner, some wood, a few screws, and bungee cords. You can easily adjust the amount of bungee cords and size of the "container" if needed.

Great Garage Organization Hacks

Monkey Hooks
and a flat-back bucket make the perfect solution for car wash or household cleaner items without using a shelf.

Great Garage Organization Hacks
Those annoying power cords? A simple hook and chain is a great solution that'll avoid any tangling or falling. We recommend these velcro ties to keep your cords neat, tidy, and together!

Great Garage Organization Hacks

Everybody needs some shelving in their garage, and this solution is an easy one (it only takes about 1-2 hours to complete)! Keep in mind, these shelves attach right to your garage wall, but they're great for plastic storage bins, garden tools, etc. Be sure you've got enough room for your car before screwing the boards into the wall.

Great Garage Organization Hacks
Magnetic strips make storage super easy. Just install and start sticking stuff up. You can also use this hack with metal lidded jars (hack: glue a large washer to plastic lids to make it stick) for storing nails, screws, staples, nuts, bolts, and whatever other small items you can think of!

Great Garage Organization Hacks
Have fishermen or fisherwomen in the family? If you do, a pool noodle is a super easy solution to keeping your lines organized. If not, you can use this cheap hack for brooms, rakes, shovels, etc.

Great Garage Organization Hacks
Keep shoes in the garage? Even just tennis shoes for when you mow the lawn or do yard work? Try this hack! Alternatively, you could hang a shoe organizer on the wall.

We hope these great garage organization hacks give you the tools to get your garage tidied up for the spring season so you can enjoy the nice weather while it's around! If you need help tidying up your car, we offer a great selection of car detailing packages, as well as a-la-carte services like headlight restoration, pet hair removal, and rain-x windshield treatments, to meet your budget. Check out our cleaning and detailing menu online which includes pricing. You can schedule an appointment online or by giving our Service Center a call at (866) 574-4228! We look forward to serving you this spring at RiverTown Honda - just 12 minutes from downtown Grand Rapids, down the road from RiverTown Crossings Mall in Grandville.

How to Replace Your Wiper Blades at Home

March 29, 2018 0
GRANDVILLE, Mich.,––Did you know your wiper blades should be replaced every 6 months or so?  It all depends on how often you use them and if there are any Wiper blades are something that you can easily replace at home if you choose to do so, but if you've never done it before, you might need some help learning how. Below you'll find some brief info on their importance and tips on how to replace your wiper blades at home!

How to Replace Your Wiper Blades at Home

First - take a second to think about how important your wiper blades are. Whether they're brushing away water or rain, mud or slush, or snow and ice, it's their job to keep your most important view clear on the road. If your view is clouded, you'll most definitely have trouble seeing not just the road, but any dangers that may present themselves (deer or animal crossings, large potholes and bumps, and other cars to name a few).

Many drivers seem to lose track of time when it comes to this and wait until they have trouble seeing through the windshield to replace our wiper blades. We highly recommend making a note in your phone, or maybe a post-it note to put in your center console of the date your wiper blades are due for a change. At the very least, you'll then have a reminder to give your current blades an inspection!

Next - to do an inspection, you'll want to first lift your wiper blades and run your hands along the rubber to check for any cracks or broken pieces. If you don't feel anything, spray your windshield with your washer fluid and run your wiper blades to see if there's any streaks or missed spots. Sometimes all your wiper blades need is a solid cleaning, so if you see missed spots, give your blades a good wipe down and run them again. *Check out the video below for further details!

Last - if you've determined you need new blades, you'll first want to purchase a pair that fits your vehicle properly. Some cars require two different front-windshield sizes, while others require two of the same. If you're replacing your back windshield wiper blade, it's likely a smaller size than your front two. There's often a booklet near the wiper blades at the store where you can check sizes for your specific make, model, and year.

HOW TO INSTALL WIPER BLADES

1. Lift your wiper off the windshield to begin (we recommend doing one at a time)
2. Find the small tab where the wiper blade meets the arm
3. Depress the small tab and slide the wiper blade down to remove
4. Take the clip on the new wiper blade and slide it into the same spot
5. Make sure you hear it click into place
6. Repeat on the other arm
7. Start your car up and test them out!

When it's time to purchase new blades, you can stop by RiverTown Honda in Grandville - just 12 minutes from downtown Grand Rapids - to purchase them and have them installed, but you can also get them from many auto parts stores and convenience or department stores as well. Higher quality blades are, predictably, more expensive, but worth the investment because they stand the chance to last longer and provide a consistently clear, streak-free view.

We can help you decide which wiper blades are best for your Honda and help you install all new at an affordable price. Simply stop by our Express Service Lane in Grandville, and we'll get you back on the road as quick as possible. Need more info on how to keep your vehicle in top shape this Spring? The Best Way to Go Green: 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid

March 20, 2018 0
GRANDVILLE, Mich.,––Hybrid vehicles once were not as popular as they are now. In fact, automotive manufacturers are putting EPA estimates and emissions at the top of their priority list when it comes to building a new engine. We can all do our own small part to reduce our consumption, but a big way to do so is investing in a hybrid or electric vehicle when you're in the market for a new car. While this is proven to not reduce your carbon footprint, unless you've run your car down to it's absolute last leg, there are still some great "green" benefits from doing so. In our eyes, the best way to go green is the 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid, arriving at dealerships starting at the end of the week.

The Best Way to Go Green: 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid

The long-term cost savings on gas are pretty incredible, especially when you make the switch from an older vehicle to the 2018 Accord Hybrid, which gets an EPA estimated 47 MPG combined. With constant fluctuations at the pump, you won't have to worry as much about the impact on your wallet; however, the cost savings go well beyond fuel. The 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid combines a 2.0L i-VTEC inline 4-cylinder engine with an electric propulsion motor that together get a breathtaking 212 hp and 232 lb-ft of torque, meaning you don't have to sacrifice power for better gas mileage.

But, what's the real engineering science behind the stylish body that helps make the 2018 Accord Hybrid an economical, or green, choice?

The wheel-mounted Deceleration Selectors act as paddle shifters that allows the driver to choose a level 1-4 to control the regenerative braking performance. Regenerative braking uses the energy created by friction of the vehicle's brakes in use and repurposes it to charge the battery. The 2018 Accord Hybrid also helps save on gas and battery power by shifting between gasoline power, gasoline and battery power, or just battery power (Engine Drive, Hybrid Drive, and EV Drive respectively) - all of this happens without the driver even realizing it!

Typical with all of Honda's new models, the 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid offers everything you want, in an almost-luxury package, at an affordable price. The Accord Hybrid, a part of the model family Car and Driver Magazine named America's Best Sedan, also comes standard with the Honda Sensing Suite of safety features, and all of the same convenience, comfort, and infotainment features offered in the non-hybrid version. This includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a 7" full-color display screen, 60/40 split rear seats, smart entry and push button start, dual-zone climate control, and much more. You'll also get class-leading cargo space and cabin space to boot.

The 2018 Accord Hybrid is available beginning at $25,990 (with destination and handling). It's available in a base trim, as well as EX, EX-L, and Touring hybrid trims so you can get all the features you want.

Ready to go green? The best way to do so is with a new 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid. Keep a lookout for new Hybrid models on our lot in Grandville as they start to arrive at dealerships March 23rd. You can shop our current inventory online, including other great gas saving models like the 2018 Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid and 2018 Honda Fit. We'll be happy to help you find a model that best suits your driving habits and lifestyle!

It's our goal to provide you the best dealership experience of your life at RiverTown Honda! We're proud to be the #1 Honda Dealership in Michigan, conveniently located just 12 minutes from downtown Grand Rapids, just down the road from RiverTown Crossings, off of I-196 at 44th Street.
