GRANDVILLE, Mich.,––Hybrid vehicles once were not as popular as they are now. In fact, automotive manufacturers are putting EPA estimates and emissions at the top of their priority list when it comes to building a new engine. We can all do our own small part to reduce our consumption, but a big way to do so is investing in a hybrid or electric vehicle when you're in the market for a new car. While this is proven to not reduce your carbon footprint, unless you've run your car down to it's absolute last leg, there are still some great "green" benefits from doing so. In our eyes, the best way to go green is the 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid, arriving at dealerships starting at the end of the week.
The long-term cost savings on gas are pretty incredible, especially when you make the switch from an older vehicle to the 2018 Accord Hybrid, which gets an EPA estimated 47 MPG combined. With constant fluctuations at the pump, you won't have to worry as much about the impact on your wallet; however, the cost savings go well beyond fuel. The 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid combines a 2.0L i-VTEC inline 4-cylinder engine with an electric propulsion motor that together get a breathtaking 212 hp and 232 lb-ft of torque, meaning you don't have to sacrifice power for better gas mileage.
But, what's the real engineering science behind the stylish body that helps make the 2018 Accord Hybrid an economical, or green, choice?

The wheel-mounted Deceleration Selectors act as paddle shifters that allows the driver to choose a level 1-4 to control the regenerative braking performance. Regenerative braking uses the energy created by friction of the vehicle's brakes in use and repurposes it to charge the battery. The 2018 Accord Hybrid also helps save on gas and battery power by shifting between gasoline power, gasoline and battery power, or just battery power (Engine Drive, Hybrid Drive, and EV Drive respectively) - all of this happens without the driver even realizing it!
Typical with all of Honda's new models, the 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid offers everything you want, in an almost-luxury package, at an affordable price. The Accord Hybrid, a part of the model family Car and Driver Magazine named America's Best Sedan, also comes standard with the Honda Sensing Suite of safety features, and all of the same convenience, comfort, and infotainment features offered in the non-hybrid version.
