GRANDVILLE, Mich.,––Over time, Honda has invested $14 billion into its facilities in the U.S., $3.4 of which in the last four years, furthering the manufacturers commitment of producing quality automobiles for consumers in North America. The Marysville, Ohio location was the first Honda plant in the country to begin producing the foreign brand's vehicles in 1982. Now, Honda's five plants across the U.S. produce 12 different Honda and Acura vehicles, which includes engines and transmissions.



On Wednesday, February 28th, 2018, the Marysville plant built an Accord, but not just any Accord. This Accord marked a giant milestone for because it became the 25 millionth vehicle produced by Honda in the United States. That's right. Honda, is now celebrating 25 million cars made in the U.S.! Even though Honda is thought to traditionally, and technically, be a foreign automaker, most Hondas sold in the U.S. are made right here at home.

Honda's other plants are in Lincoln/Alabama that builds the ultimate family minivan - the Honda Odyssey, Greensburg/Indiana that builds the long-time best-selling compact car - the Honda Civic, and East Liberty/Ohio that builds Motor Trend's 2018 SUV of the Year - the Honda CR-V. The Marysville, Ohio plant, as you may have guessed it, builds America's best selling sedan for 41 years -the Honda Accord.

To celebrate this significant accomplishment, Honda has begun a scholarship fund for students in the engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain fields. The initial donation of $25,000 will begin the scholarship's journey to assist students in their education pursuits, and more importantly, at Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Additionally, the scholarship recipients will be given the chance to interview for internships and co-op positions at Honda facilities.

GRANDVILLE, Mich.,––Amidst the news of American manufacturers seeing large decreases in sales, American Honda Motor Co. Inc. has reported a nominal decrease. Although, looking at Honda's August Sales Report, it seems that the numbers from this year are quite similar to last year's. This means even in the face of the current economy and slight decrease in sales, Honda isn't slowing down. In fact, Honda cars increased 4.2% - a staggeringly opposite result in comparison other manufacturer's decrease in sedan sales. Let's take a look at the numbers.


Even with a small decrease of .5% in sales year-over-year, Honda still saw record sales for the HR-V and a notable increase in sales for the Civic of 11.2%. The HR-V took a large leap in sales and increased 26.7% with a total of 9,603 units sold. For the HR-V, this past August marked it's second best month ever for sales. Honda trucks, however, contributed to the overall decrease in sales mainly due to limited inventory. Because sedans are continually trending downward in sales across the industry, we expect to see an increase in the truck division moving forward.


The recent weather disasters, like hurricane Harvey and hurricane Irma, may be in play with the decrease of vehicle sales across the industry and within Honda's August Sales Report, but Honda remains positive and supportive for it's consumers in these areas.
