There's also plenty of museums to attend if you're interested, and aero tours you can take to view the coast. The relaxed vibe makes it a great destination for families. It'll take about 15 hours to make the trip by car from Grandville.
If you're searching for a beach spot where you can fully relax and pick up a nice tan, Washington D.C. isn't the spot. But if you're looking for an interesting and educational place with tons of activities to do within walking/local transport distance, this spring break spot is ideal. Many of the museums and sights are free and kid friendly, and the adults will enjoy the great selection of food available. You can definitely make this vacation into a road trip. It'll take about 10-12 hours, depending on your stops, coming from Grandville.

If your family is full of energy, Keystone, Colorado is the place to go! It's the opposite of a warm vacation, but the views are gorgeous, the skiing is top-notch, and the Keystone resort was rated the #1 Best U.S. Ski Resort for Families by USA Today. The entire resort is designed to make hauling ski/snowboard gear to the mountains easy for the whole family, but you'll likely want to fly to get there in the first place. The ski season comes to an end April 22nd at Keystone, so you'll want to make sure your trip fits in before closing time.
Sanibel and Captiva Islands, Florida
Located on the left side, or gulf side, of Florida, Sanibel and Captiva are islands that offer everything you want in a warm vacation without the college crowd! There are plenty of activities to do for the entire family, along with relaxing on the beach and swimming in the beautiful blue salt water. The little ones will enjoy snorkeling and sea shell hunting, while the adults will enjoy the small downtown areas available for shopping and food. You'll most likely want to fly into Fort Meyers and will need a vehicle to get to Sanibel Island.
