Model Preview
The Audi Q3 is all-new for 2019, launching this small SUV’s second generation. It features bigger dimensions, updated technologies and expanded safety features. Upgraded engines power Audi’s smallest SUV. A new dual-clutch transmission also rolls out. The quick update allows Audi to stay paced with newly released models such as the Cadillac XT4, while leapfrogging the now established Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class.
The new Q3 features a sportier design than before. Up front, its octagonal grille is bigger than the previous design, while the large air inlets underscore this SUV’s assertive look. Firm shoulders and a now three-inch longer profile provide more definition, including powerful muscles over the wheel arches. Other highlights include a long roof edge spoiler and steeply raked rear roof pillars. New wheel designs add flair and distinction.
Audi says the 2019 Q3 has four engine choices, although we know not every engine will be offered in the U.S. We also think the six-speed manual gearbox will not be offered. However, a new seven-speed dual-clutch transmission will work alongside each engine choice. As before, the Audi Q3 has standard front-wheel drive and available Quattro, a permanent all-wheel drive system.

Inside, the cabin mimics the larger Audi models with its contours and choice of materials. The centerpiece from the driver’s perspective is the digital instrument panel with its 10.25-inch diagonal display. You’ll also find Audi’s latest MMI system, now featuring a 10.1-inch display. Optionally, shoppers can choose the larger Audi virtual cockpit with three different views, including a sporty display.
On the infotainment front, the 2019 Audi Q3 supplies a smartphone interface with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. One of the available audio packages is a stellar 15-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system with three-dimensional audio, which makes for an unusual offering in a small, luxury SUV.
As for safety, you’ll find such features as active lane assist, traffic jam assist and adaptive speed assist. All three tie-in with the Q3’s adaptive cruise assist system.
