GRANDVILLE, Mich.,–– Now that Spring has officially arrived, it's time to tackle some projects at home. You may need to do some Spring cleaning inside, or some planting outside, but those aren't the only things you can do to welcome the new season. Decorating your home on the inside and out can help you feel fresh and bright after a long, dark, and cold winter, and you can do so on a relatively small budget. If you don't have the pieces to do so or just need to brighten up your home a bit, take a look at our Spring home decor tips and ideas below! Once you've invested in some decor pieces, you can continue to build your collection as each Spring season rolls around or can simply reuse your items to save money. Let's hop to it!
Vases, Flowers, & Greenery
Spring is all about feeling fresh. Bring some bright vases, flowers, and greenery into your home. Don't worry though, fake items do the trick and will last you years to come. Try cherry blossom or forsythia branches (see below) is glass or white vases/pots. Faux boxwood or eucalyptus garland works great as well for wreaths, mantels, and other places around the home.
Pillow Covers
A great, cost-effective solution for changing decor throughout the seasons: your pillows. If you have generic sized throw pillows on a bench near the front door or on your couch in your living room, you can change the covers on them to match the season. You can find covers with zippers that are not only easy to change but meet your budget, too. Check Amazon, IKEA, and H&M for cheap covers.
Bright or Pastel Color Rugs
Now, rugs aren't the cheapest option when it comes to freshening your home up for Spring and they might not fit your budget. But, if you are willing to shell out a little extra cash and want to spruce up your neutral decor, they're a great investment, especially since you can use them year after year. If you don't want to go as bright or as bold as is in the picture below, but you can try some bright greens, aqua blues, fun oranges, and peaceful lilacs!
Seasonal Kitchen Towels
This is another item that's relatively cheap that can be changed for the seasons and the holidays. Plus, this is something you'll find totally useful, too! You can go for Easter-ish patterns or styles like the towels in the photo below, or just invest in some floral/botanical patterns with bright colors that'll give your kitchen the little pop it needs.
Refreshed Wall Art
We highly recommend investing in some generic size frames, like for 8x10 or 11x14 pieces, that you can easily change. You can place these things on an entryway table, on your wall in your living room, or above your bed. There are many free art resources on the internet that you can have printed in many size at Staples, but you can also find a lot of inspiration at craft stores as well. Try using ready-to-use patterned scrapbook paper, or make your own art with some paint, stamps (you can use fruit or vegetables to make your own), and brown bag paper.
