I recently went to Fiskens showroom in London. Fiskens was founded in 1991 by Gregor Fisken and since then some of the finest cars of the twentieth century have passed through this showroom. 

Gregor's introduction to cars came at an early age, his parents owned pre-war Bentley's. At 17, Gregor began a mechanical apprenticeship with Bunty Scott-Moncrieff, a dealer and restorer of pre-war cars. This then lead to Gregor competing at local autocross and special stage rallying. In the late 1980's Gregor began to work for Coys as a salesman before opening his own dealership in Kensington. 

Since Fiskens opened, Gregor has gone on to establish himself as well respected racing driver, competing in modern endurance racing, including all four classes of Le Mans 24 Hours as well as a highly talented historic racer with drives at the Goodwood Revival and the Monaco Historic.Grand Prix.

Upon arrival from the outside, it looks like nothing has changed for hundreds of years, a small sign is the only giveaway that behind the doors are some very special cars. Once inside, I'm welcomed by the Office Manager Kizzy who shows me around offered a glass of water. Given the recent heatwave, I take up the offer. The showroom is very clean, modern and light with some fantastic art on the walls and some truly breathtaking cars.

1964 AC Cobra. This is one of only 42 RHD Cobras made by AC Cars in Thames Ditton

1963 Ferrari 250 Lusso. One of only 17 RHD 250 Lusso's were produced. This one has a competition six carburettor engine.  

1966 Aston Martin DB6 Short Chassis Volante

1931 Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Zagato Spider. This car has direct links to Vittorio Jano, Tazio Nuvolari, Enzo Ferrari and Zagato.

1954 Maserati 250F Ex Works . This won two Grand Prix in the hands of Jean Behra and was driven by Juan Manuel Fangio in the biopic Fangio. 

1931 Bugatti Type 50. Only one of two surviving Molsheim factory bodied Roadsters

Speaking on the future of classic cars, Fiskens states that for the most original cars, "demand never dips and that values steadily increase. The best of this elite group soar above the fluctuating values of mediocre examples. We know the market and it's an exiting place to be".

I recently visited the Romans International showroom in Banstead Surrey.

Romans was founded in 1994 by Paul Jaconelli.

Paul's story begins in the late 1960's where he was a Saturday worker at a garage washing cars. By the age of 19, Paul was buying cars at auction working on them and selling them until he had enough money to rent a garage.

In 1984, Paul took on HF Edwards in Epsom, this was a franchised dealership for Fiat and Peugeot. Paul and his brother Marc turned this into the biggest Fiat dealership in the UK winning a global award of Fiat Dealer of the year for three consecutive years.

Paul's real love was for Supercars and he started a business alongside HF Edwards that specialised in parallel imports to customers who were upset at a lack of supply on the franchised network.

Paul left HF Edwards when it was bought by HR Owen and in 1994 he acquired the name Romans Intarnational and started selling cars from his home. Soon Paul moved into a showroom in Epsom. After years of hard work and determination, Paul opened Romans International in Banstead.in 2002.

They offer a very high standard of supercar and customer service.

When I arrived, I was greeted by Eddie from the marketing team. Eddie told me that when he got his job at Romans, the cars in the showroom overwhelmed him a little and it's easy to see why.

While walking around the showroom and taking photo's, I asked various members of staff how they all felt about working at Romans. They were all very happy to be working there, one person commented that its the best job they have ever had.
