What Memphis Summer Dreams are made of: Corvette Cruises + Achievement Status

August 01, 2017 0
Cool and inspiring enough for even the likes of James Bond himself, the Corvette has had appearances in various major films, and has been on many status quo wish lists for decades.  Displaying the need for freedom and high level of prowess on the road, the Corvette has long been a symbol of sophistication, raw power, and the sleekest engineering on the planet. It was originally designed as a show car for the 1953 Motorama display at the New York Auto Show, and enough interest was stoked for GM to consider making a publicly sold version.

The earliest generation was often labeled the "solid-axle" models, as the ones with independent rear suspension did not come about until the second generation. Great care was taken to hand-build 300 Corvettes by the 1953 model year, and a legendary automobile line was born. During the following year, 3,640 models were built, and some execs lost a bit of sleep at night, as they sold a bit slowly. Due to the slower movement, production was limited to 700 models for the following year. Proudly sporting a V-8 Engine as an option, the 0-60 drive time was drastically improved by 1.5 seconds.

In 1956, a brand new body was introduced, and the drastic visual element of the missing taillamp fins altered the finished product quite a bit. An optional fuel injection system was made available the following year, and a major milestone was then achieved: it was one of the first mass-produced engines in history to reach 1bhp per cubic inch, which Chevy's advertising agency used to incorporate the slogan "one hp per cubic inch," luring buyers to familiarize themselves with the brand that was now taking off.

Just two years ago, the C7.R was developed, and made its debut on the track during the 2015 Rolex Motorsports Reunion. From Paul Barrett Parkway to Sam Cooper Boulevard right here in Memphis, there are many fantastic locations to take a 'Vette for a spin, and the conditions during the summer are the absolute best to get out and happily burn some rubber. Those making their way into the dealership are mesmerized by the 460-hp thrown down by the V8 engine, and the 0-60 in 3.7 seconds liftoff time. The edge-lit LED turn signals are framed in black chrome housing, and the ultra-cool high-mounted stop lamp is mounted smack-dab in the middle of the rear spoiler.

Car and Driver is a monthly publication out of the "everything-auto" state: Michigan. Read by more than 1.23 million, they are known for a bit of a sordid slant, which has been proven to be greatly appreciated by car enthusiasts worldwide. Also known for covering ground that is sometimes thought to be controversial, they even inject ample doses of politics and other daily grind material in their reviews. The Corvette was selected by Car and Driver as part of their 10Best for the year, another honor that steers many towards the purchasing point.

With a goal of laying out just what a pleasurable driving experience can be, vehicles that offer outstanding value, excel at their given mission, and deliver an over-the-top driving experience are the ones that usually make the cut. Feel free to pay us a visit and see how the flowing design of a Stingray suits you: there are many perfectly-engineered instruments to help you keep your focus on the road, and a wildly impressive power-to-weight ratio.

Available Magnetic Selective Ride Control is a real-time damping system that actually takes a read of the road every millisecond, and has the ability to adjust for new pockets of terrain in under 15 milliseconds flat. The Corvette is one of those vehicles that is immediately recognizable and distinguished: the Chevy family is proud to be mentioned in first-rate publications, while Summer's Kiss lingers for a bit longer.

The Camaro's Domination Factor: Hefty Trendsetter in its own Awards Class

July 31, 2017 0

It's no secret that Memphis has always had a huge street scene as far as racing, and up and down Summer Avenue you can still find ultra-cool rod shops, as well as tons of drivers who appreciate the art. You can hit up spots like the Memphis International Raceway to catch the slightly more lawful version of the pastime, and see world-class events like Racing Made Safe, Journeyman Racing, and the Summit Bracket Racing Series. The Camaro has long been a staple on racetracks nationwide, and many fans and drivers alike have been amazed at just how awesome, powerful and downright sinister this vehicle is.

A combination of distinct design and raw power such as this is bound to win awards, and the Camaro has absolutely had a stellar year. J.D. Power and Associates billed it as the "Most Dependable Midsize Sporty Car, Five Years in a Row." This well-respected entity conducts surveys of customer satisfaction, product quality and buyer behavior within the auto industry. They rely heavily on the survey responses of customers who are specifically targeted, and it's no surprise that the Camaro pulled down this honor.

Car and Driver is a monthly publication geared towards auto enthusiasts worldwide: known for a slightly irreverent tone and habit of being blunt, they have habitually browbeaten SUV's, and are a forum that would make any auto brand proud to be favored in. The Camaro ranked on their "10Best" list this year, and a dazzling 3.5 second time for the 0-60 launch doesn't hurt any. When you come pay us a visit and check out just how exciting this car really is with a test drive, you'll be sitting at the helm of a racehorse that runs the quarter-mile in 11.4 seconds, dominating any setting that is thrown in its midst.

Kelley Blue Book has awarded the Camaro with the 2016 Best Resale Value Badge: one that is well-earned, and one of the most useful aspects of any vehicle. If the time does come when you do want to part ways with your purchase, it will not have depreciated as much as many other models down the chain. You're going to have to try pretty hard to find a reason to sell her, but we recognize that changes do occur in life, and when they do, you won't be left too incredibly short-changed.

You are going to love the aggressive front splitter on the Camaro, and the 3-stanchion spoiler, which is there to heavily increase downforce. The Carbon-fiber composite hood air extractor is on the scene to move air from the engine, and decrease the lift on the ride. A wing-style rear spoiler and diffuser help the ZL1 model keep up with the high level of performance expected from it, and the Camaro is one vehicle that won't disappoint. Magnetic Ride Control is an amazing form of suspension that actually reads road conditions 1,000 times per second.

As you begin to take a corner, the patented suspension fluid is engaged, which stiffens the suspension and reduces the amount of body roll you encounter. It's another ingenious additive that helps you get every bit of performance out of your ride, and keep you firmly planted while taking the tightest of turns. Come pay us a visit at Chuck Hutton and pay homage to the beloved muscle car that first debuted in 1966: The entire 6th-generation product line is gonna less-than-nonchalantly knock your socks off!

Chevy's 2018 Grand Slam Plan: 6.2-liter Tahoe + Souped-up Suburban

April 25, 2017 0

From barbecue and blues to family gatherings and Graceland, everyone in Memphis is excited about the arrival of spring. In many ways, there is no better time to get rid of "dead weight", and trade in a car that you were tiring of for something a bit sleeker. This year Chevy announced RST packages for the Tahoe and Suburban that would make the oversize and bulky presence of these vehicles feel a bit more stylish, and you're gonna love the result. The Rally Sport Truck package begins with you picking out which of four awesome exterior colors suits you: White, Black, Silver Ice and Tungsten are the current choices.

A few of the major changes are carried out with the door handles and grille surround: they are replaced with body-color pieces, and gloss-black treatment is applied to a few other key areas. The grille, roof rails, window trim, mirror caps, and bow-tie emblems are covered to emulate a different, much more up-to-date feel. 22-inch wheels with a wider twin-spoke pattern are wrapped with 285/45 Bridgestone Dueler H/L tires, which we sincerely hope that you put to the test on a seasonable rip through Shelby Farms or any of the numerous open spaces along the Memphis Riverfront. Many car enthusiasts pass up the Suburban because of its overpoweringly extra rear-length distinction, and a few choice trimmings were added this year with that aspect in mind.

An optional performance package is offered only for the Tahoe, and it is perfect for the individual seeking to add a bit of bang to an already stellar vehicle. If you have been having repeated vivid dreams of lurching through dirt trails with ease and trading the confines of the office for the welcoming and wild road, you're bound to get pretty excited about what this entails. The GM's 6.2-liter V-8 and new 10-speed automatic transmission are going to assure that you won't be idle for more than the necessary second to enjoy a breathtaking view. The Magnetic Ride Control suspension is specifically calibrated to keep the Tahoe at a safe level while barking around corners as fast as you wish.

The upgrades that have been made here are in place to appeal to a younger demographic, and we firmly believe that they will. You can also revel in an optional upgrade that will get the loud-piping hot crowd excited: a factory Borla exhaust that adds further 7 to 10 horsepower for the rear wheels. As far as the boat and camper crowd are concerned, the two rating for the Tahoe RST is 8400 pounds, which will easily drag anyone's fun-loving power set righteously out of any trouble. Neither of these are limited edition models, and this fall is when the pricing structure and cosmetic packages will be a bit less of a mystery on the lots. Everyone here at Chuck Hutton in Memphis is excited to help you get the vehicle of your dreams, and make sure that any of your pressing spring expedition ideas enthusiastically see the light of day.
