Someone polled bikers, and had 80% say they ride with a helmet. Then they looked out at the nearby road, street, highway or whatever, and counted that only 1/2 the bikers riding were wearing a helmet.
This clearly demonstrates that polls only get you the response of the people who will stand around and answer dumb questions. Bikers without helmets aren't as likely to answer pollsters.
